Aubert & Merian

Private Client Accountants and Tax Advisers

We act for a small number of individuals, families and their enterprises whose affairs deserve unhurried attention. Our work is quiet, precise and personal, and we intend it to remain so.

Our character

Discreet, bespoke and personal

Aubert & Merian exists for clients who expect their affairs to be handled with care and kept in the strictest confidence. Discretion is not a policy we observe but the condition on which we practise: your affairs are known to the director who serves you and to no one who need not know them. We keep our client list deliberately short, so that every matter receives that director's personal attention and nothing is passed down the line, and the people who welcome you to the practice are the people who will serve you for years to come.

We see the whole where others see a part. Accounts, taxation, structure and succession are not separate disciplines to us but one continuous picture of a family's affairs, and we ask a great many questions about you, your family and your intentions before we offer a single opinion. Nothing we do is taken from a shelf. Like a suit cut by hand, every engagement is measured, made and finished for one client alone, and the advice you receive is written for your circumstances rather than adapted from someone else's. Ledgers must balance and filings must be immaculate, yet the heart of our practice is judgement, applied by people who know your affairs intimately and have the time to think about them properly.

Our beginnings

A new company, founded on old principles

Aubert & Merian was established in 2026 by accountants who had spent long careers in larger practices and wished to build something smaller and better. The company is new; the principles on which it rests are not. We began, as such practices should, with a short list of clients whose affairs we know in full, and we intend to grow only as far as that standard allows.

We act for clients throughout the United Kingdom from our office at Lincoln's Inn in London. What we offer is not scale but attention: the certainty that the director who takes you on will know your affairs, answer when you telephone, and think about your position when you are not in the room.

How we work

One director. One manager. Your affairs, known in full.

Every client of the practice is served by a client director, who remains your point of contact for as long as you are with us, and by a dedicated manager who comes to know the detail of your affairs in full. New clients begin with a private review, a thorough examination of your accounting and tax position from which we prepare our recommendations. Thereafter we report to you at the rhythm you prefer, whether monthly, quarterly or at the year end, always in plain English and always signed by the director responsible.

Discretion

Your affairs are discussed with you and with no one else. Confidence is not a policy of the practice. It is the practice.

Continuity

The director who takes you on intends to serve you for decades. We build relationships that outlast tax years.

Craft

Everything that leaves the practice is prepared without haste and reviewed by the director whose name stands behind it.

The private review

Where every engagement begins

The private review is a complete examination of your accounting and tax position, undertaken when you join the practice. We read what has gone before, test what is in place, and set out in plain terms what is sound, what needs attention and what opportunities careful planning may hold. From it we prepare our recommendations and, with your agreement, the engagement letter that defines our work together. It remains yours whether or not we proceed.
